7 pros and cons to the Carolina Panthers drafting Carson Strong in 2022

Inexperience in a pro system
Playing in coach Jay Norvell’s air-raid system at Nevada, Carson Strong took almost all of his snaps from the shotgun. This isn’t too serious of a red flag, especially as much of the league continues to evolve in favor of schemes that revolve around this anyway.
Still, every NFL team is going to need a quarterback that’s comfortable taking some snaps from under center also. This is especially true for the offensive identity the Carolina Panthers are trying to build under Matt Rhule.
All season long, Rhule has insisted that the team needs to be running the ball more. This usually also means an offense where the majority of snaps are taken from under the center.
This could certainly present a learning curve for Strong. Although it’s difficult to say how much of a complication it might be and will probably be dependent on how much adjustment can be made in OTAs and training camp.
Supporters of Strong as a prospect can refer to his continued improvement and development as evidence that he can quickly learn and adapt to a new system. This is something that solid coaching and a heavy dose of repetitions should swiftly be able to fix and the Panthers do have a highly experienced figure in Sean Ryan for the prospect to learn off in this scenario.
