Gardner Minshew – Philadelphia Eagles

Of all the names on this list, trading for Gardner Minshew could be the most realistic option for the Carolina Panthers this offseason. There were reports that the organization made an inquiry to the Philadelphia Eagles regarding potential compensation for the quarterback, who shone in a starting environment when Jalen Hurts was forced to miss time.

Minshew displayed enough presence under center with the Jacksonville Jaguars to suggest he might be able to unseat Sam Darnold from the starting lineup in a training camp battle, so if the price is right it’s something to consider.

One thing Minshew has is a ton of heart. He is a confident individual that can inspire those around him, which could not necessarily be said of Darnold over the course of his career.

The Eagles gave up a sixth-round pick for Minshew to provide cover for Hurts. Although 2022 is the final year of his deal, it’s likely Philadelphia would want a lot more than that from another interested party.

That might have been the reason Carolina went with Cam Newton rather than giving up more selections for a quarterback who may or may not work out.

However, Darnold’s alarming regression might cause them to pick up the phone for a second time and become more serious about landing Minshew this offseason.
