Re-grading the Carolina Panthers draft class after dismal 2021 season

Brady Christensen – Carolina Panthers OT
The Carolina Panthers finally scooped up an offensive lineman by securing Brady Christensen in the third round. One of college football’s premier left tackles in 2020 at BYU, he came into the league as a potential Day 1 starter that could fill a gaping void somewhere despite some questionable veterans brought into the mix in free agency.
Christensen’s athleticism was never in question. But the Panthers completely mismanaged the player during his rookie season.
It’s that simple, really.
Matt Rhule’s stubbornness regarding Christensen’s arm length not making him the right fit on the blindside was frustrating. Especially considering how the player thrived over three games at his preferred position down the stretch.
The head coach has now conceded that Christensen is a starter. But he continued to show reluctance when it comes to slotting him at left tackle moving forward.
Grade: B
This was a solid pick and there is every chance Christensen could have made a much bigger impression had it not been for coaching indecision. However, hopes remain high he can assist from a starting role next time around.
