Re-grading the Carolina Panthers draft class after dismal 2021 season
By Dean Jones
Tommy Tremble – Carolina Panthers TE
Acquiring Tommy Tremble was seen as a real coup by the Carolina Panthers and one that clearly delighted the decision-makers at the time. The promising tight end out of Notre Dame brought elite blocking traits that were already NFL-ready, even if he was something of a work in progress when it came to pass-catching.
The preseason notions surrounding Tremble were evident in 2021. His ability to create holes in the run game with an aggressive blocking style made the smoothest of transitions to the pros and even though his chances were limited from a target perspective, he showed enough to suggest more could be on the way with additional refinement.
Carolina has struggled to find the right successor for Greg Olsen since he departed in free agency. But there is a chance Tremble becomes the complete package if improvements are made in the coming months.
Tremble goes about his business in a manner that’s hard not to love. Once there is more trust when it comes to reliability catching the football, the sky is the limit.
Grade: A
The future is bright for Tremble. But the onus will also be on the new offensive coordinator in pursuit of getting more from the tight end in 2022.
