Chuba Hubbard – Carolina Panthers RB

It was clear that the Carolina Panthers needed another running back from the college ranks after Christian McCaffrey appeared just three times in 2020. Matt Rhule – upon recommendation from his wife – settled on Chuba Hubbard in the fourth round after the prospect torched his new head coach plenty during his time at Oklahoma State.

Hubbard was a bit of a wildcard heading into the season. However, another injury-riddled campaign for McCaffrey meant he was thrust into the limelight much sooner than anticipated.

There were some errors from Hubbard – especially when it came to catching out of the backfield – but he finished the campaign on a really high note and this experience should do his overall development the world of good.

Hopefully, McCaffrey’s frustrations are behind him. Although he can no longer be relied upon and Hubbard could see a little more involvement in 2022 even if the All-Pro plays every game.

Grade: B-

There were some growing pains for Hubbard. If he can rid himself of some mental errors and learn how to absorb contact a little better this offseason, it will help the back’s cause enormously.
