Carolina Panthers loss at the Giants in Week 7

There is a myriad of reasons why the Carolina Panthers should have made a coaching change this offseason. None are more obvious or frustrating than the fact Matt Rhule’s team was thrashed at the New York Giants in Week 7.

It wasn’t simply that the Giants beat the Panthers, they steamrolled Carolina 25-3. The only plausible excuses a team should find for losing to such a woeful organization who recently fired head coach Joe Judge after two seasons is either they are equally devoid of talent or were focused on a playoff run and overlooked them.

Carolina falls under neither of these categories. They have talent on their roster outside of the quarterback position to contend with the majority of the league, after all.

The Panthers should have no reason to overlook New York either considering how their season had turned. This game was an important one that would have righted the ship and helped to quiet Carolina fans who were becoming disenchanted.

Instead, Rhule’s team was blown out and embarrassed. They appear to be in need of an offensive line, a franchise quarterback, some defensive help, and potentially a new head coach.

Rhule losing to the Giants was the final signal the Panthers needed to make a change they have refused to pull the trigger on thus far.

Such a demoralizing defeat was unacceptable even with Sam Darnold as your quarterback. The Carolina roster is simply too talented to lose to a team this devoid of answers.
