Has Matt Rhule bet his Carolina Panthers future on Ben McAdoo?

Ben McAdoo’s failures overshadow his success
At 44 years old, Ben McAdoo has had success in the NFL. But he has also had some major failures.
And not just with his hairstyle.
The most success came for McAdoo when he was the Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach with Aaron Rodgers and the two years he spent as New York Giants offensive coordinator from 2014-15.
In 2014, McAdoo improved New York’s offensive to the 13th highest scoring in the league. The following season in 2015, they jumped to the sixth-highest.
When Tom Coughlin was let go as the Giants head coach, McAdoo succeeded him and actually led the team to an 11-5 record and a playoff berth. This remains their most recent appearance in the postseason.
However, that team was dominated by an outstanding defense. McAdoo’s offense was 26th in points and in 2016, the Giants fell apart, ranking 31st in total points, and the head coach paid with his job after a 2-10 start to the season.
Most notably, McAdoo made the controversial decision to bench New York’s Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning, who admittedly was struggling, but replaced him with journeyman Geno Smith.
McAdoo was basically a clown show during his tenure with the Giants and he now comes to a Carolina Panthers team that is heading in that direction if things aren’t turned around next season.
