5 critical observations from the Carolina Panthers 2022 offseason so far

Carolina Panthers might be waiting for Deshaun Watson
There are still some significant obstacles to overcome before Deshaun Watson is traded from the Houston Texans. His serious legal matters still await resolution and there is also the small matter of the compensation involved for one of the better quarterbacks in the league.
The Carolina Panthers have long been fans of Watson, that’s absolutely no secret. Sam Darnold’s lack of production under center following his trade from the New York Jets means they could be on the lookout for their third starting signal-caller in as many offseasons, so it’s absolutely vital Matt Rhule and other decision-makers don’t make the wrong move yet again.
Providing Watson’s matters away from the gridiron comes to a satisfactory outcome, then Jonathan Alexander of The Charlotte Observer and many other respected media figures expect another bold bid for the Clemson product at some stage during the offseason.
"“All signs point to the Panthers being major players in the Watson sweepstakes, but there are a number of factors they must take into account.”"
This would need at least three first-round picks and for Watson to waive his no-trade clause. Two things that put this potential trade into significant doubt.
However, that probably won’t stop the Panthers from trying. Although the move is unlikely to go down well with some sections of the team’s fanbase given the seriousness of his sexual misconduct allegations.
Carolina will continue monitoring the situation. But they won’t be alone in wanting Watson if he’s cleared of all charges.
