Trevor Penning – OT (Northern Iowa)

Although there are some offensive linemen generating more headlines during the evaluation process, Trevor Penning is using the 2022 Senior Bowl to bolster his draft stock significantly. Projected as a late first or early second-round pick, the former Northern Iowa stud has been in a relentless mood in Mobile that could see him surge up boards in no time at all.

Penning might be coming from a small school, but the talent is undeniable. The left tackle has displayed ruthless aggression on almost every rep during drills, easily disposing of edge rushers and in some cases, finishing off plays in a violent fashion that almost crossed the line.

This is the way to get noticed. And considering how much help the Carolina Panthers need regarding protecting the quarterback, they would be wise to keep a close eye on Penning moving forward.

There are some very likable traits outside of Penning’s work ethic and mentality. He is an extremely fluid mover for a man his size with powerful hands that make him a difficult proposition to get around.

Carolina could be a candidate to trade down from No. 6 in pursuit of additional draft capital. If they can do this and select someone like Penning, then it might end up being a shrewd bit of business.
