5 studs the Panthers should montior from Senior Bowl practice Day 3
By Dean Jones
Desmond Ridder – QB (Cincinnati)
It was a rough start for Desmond Ridder, there’s no getting away from that. The former Cincinnati quarterback found life difficult under the spotlight on Day 1 of practice, but he deserves all the credit in the world for turning things around and making a significant impression ever since.
Ridder improved in difficult conditions on Wednesday and followed this up with a commanding performance on Day 3. The signal-caller looked a lot more comfortable going through his progressions and made some eye-catching throws in tight windows according to those in attendance.
This will be a huge confidence boost for Ridder, who came to life for the Bearcats in 2021 as the program attained a memorable place in the college football playoffs. This could lead the prospect to become a late first-round pick providing things go well moving forward.
The Carolina Panthers could be on the lookout for a quarterback given how Sam Darnold struggled to meet expectations. Although it’s highly unlikely Ridder will be ready to start right out of the gate, he could end up being a successful NFL performer if given enough time to develop over the next two years.
Carolina needs help right now. So taking Ridder might not be in their mindset with a clear sense of urgency for a head coach in Matt Rhule who is under enormous pressure.
