7 quarterbacks the Carolina Panthers could target in 2022 free agency

Carolina Panthers could sign Brandon Allen
There might not be a better time for Brandon Allen to spread his wings after the Cincinnati Bengals came within inches of winning the Super Bowl. Joe Burrow’s exceptional rise to superstardom means chances will be extremely limited for the former sixth-round pick in terms of meaningful reps, so he might decide to look at alternative options once the free agency period commences.
Whether another team views Allen as a potential starting option is debatable. There isn’t much to go off in terms of production over three years, with the signal-caller completing 56.2 percent of his passes for 1,589 yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
Allen does have his limitations. But this could be a cheap alternative for the Carolina Panthers that has the potential to help in some way if Sam Darnold fails to make the necessary improvements regarding footwork and processing this offseason.
The Arkansas product will no doubt have gained a significant amount from his time on the Bengals this season. Working alongside an elite competitor in Burrow can only help his cause in 2022 or beyond.
If the Panthers decide to move for Allen during free agency, it would be an underwhelming addition. One that the team should approach with caution despite Cincinnati’s remarkable turnaround.
