Carolina Panthers must consider Orlando Brown Jr.

It’s hard to see the Kansas City Chiefs and Orlando Brown parting ways after he was acquired from the Baltimore Ravens for a first-round pick because he wanted to start at left tackle.

Brown played well last season and was a critical piece in the new-look Chiefs protection that they tried so hard to fix during the offseason. Something the Carolina Panthers are hoping to do themselves during free agency and the 2022 NFL Draft.

Even if it’s unlikely that these two head in different directions, the Panthers need to do their due diligence and give Brown a call. At only 25 years old, the former third-round pick out of Oklahoma has proved that he can be one of the best tackles in the league at both the left and right sides.

The Panthers could solve their offensive tackle woes long-term by teaming Brown up with Taylor Moton. Setting whoever you decide to roll with at quarterback up nicely for the future.

Brown is due for a very big payday, one that the Panthers probably can’t afford. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t take a look if Kansas City cannot work out some sort of arrangement, which appears highly unlikely at this juncture.

If the Chiefs need additional time, they could also place Brown on the franchise tag to prevent him from hitting the market, where he would undoubtedly get more than they could afford.
