Do the Carolina Panthers bring in another QB?

It’s won’t surprise many associated with the Carolina Panthers to know the front office is searching for another quarterback option this offseason. Going down the draft route would be risky business considering the lack of Day 1 starting quality within the 2022 class, which could leave the organization looking to the trade market or even gambling on a veteran free agent should they wish.

Trading for Sam Darnold has set the Panthers back considerably. There is nothing they can do about that now, as unfortunate as it might be.

What they can do is make the correct move in the coming weeks and, more importantly, put whoever the Panthers pick in the best possible position to succeed under new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo.

Parting ways with draft capital hasn’t paid off in the past. But signing someone like Mitchell Trubisky or Marcus Mariota to compete with Darnold isn’t exactly guaranteed to change the team’s fortunes, either.

As far as quarterback situations across the league go, Carolina’s is pretty bleak. Good quarterbacks with no baggage don’t tend to hit free agency often, so the Panthers would need to be absolutely convinced their choice can get this team trending on the right path.
