Carolina Panthers could select Kenyon Green

Should the board fall where all the tackles are gone, Kenyon Green could be the next best thing and still fit the grade for a No. 6 overall selection. Interior pressure has become one of the most important factors in pressuring a quarterback, so naturally, the guard position has grown in importance over the years.

Green is a rare athlete at an ideal size who dominated multiple positions at his time at Texas A&M, mixing in some tackle play and both guard slots as well. While he ideally will not have to play tackle at the next level, he could fill in and be serviceable.

His versatility is just one of the selling points of this mauler, as Green’s elite athleticism and mean streak personality allow for a team to develop him into potentially an All-Pro level talent at the guard position.

Green’s tape against Alabama in 2021 was straight-up dominant on one of the biggest stages. He cemented his place alongside other NFL talent, all while playing out at left tackle.

He mirrors his opponents in the passing game, using those elite traits to the fullest extent to lock people down. In run sets, Green uses those same traits to steam through anyone in front of him, allowing run plays to be called through him.

If Green were selected at No. 6, he would be the highest-drafted guard since Quenton Nelson in 2018 who was selected at that same spot. Perhaps a good sign for the Carolina Panthers?

The Panthers’ biggest need has been the offensive line for some time. Green has all the ability to work towards fixing that as an instant impact starter.
