Carolina Panthers could sign Steven Nelson

Just three years ago, Steven Nelson received a decent-sized three-year deal from the Pittsburgh Steelers and despite playing pretty well, he was released prior to last season due to cap space.

Nelson caught on with the Philadelphia Eagles last year and had a solid season overall, even if there were some poor moments in coverage.

He isn’t known for his interceptions or lockdown coverage. But Nelson has proven to bring a tough, physical game to wherever he’s played.

After not getting the extension he wanted with Pittsburgh, Nelson probably re-earned himself money during his time with the Eagles and he should be in the market for at least a decent two-year contract somewhere.

At 29 years old, it’s unlikely that Nelson gets an extremely expensive contract anywhere so if the Carolina Panthers were wanting to bring his physical presence and swagger that might be lost from Donte Jackson, they could bring him in for around $14 million over two years.

It’s possible that Nelson wants to go to a contender, which makes things tough for Carolina. However, the opportunity to line up alongside Jaycee Horn could be pretty appealing for the veteran.
