Carolina Panthers should consider Cordarrelle Patterson

One of the biggest things Christian McCaffrey has excelled at during his career is being a true offensive weapon due to having the ability to play at multiple spots across the formation – whether that’s at running back, slot receiver, or lined up as the “X” wideout. Adding another player with similar abilities would back a nice 1-2 punch for the Carolina Panthers.

Cordarrelle Patterson was drafted in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft due to his incredible versatility and return man abilities at the University of Tennessee. Almost a full decade and five teams later, the multi-purpose weapon was able to showcase his entire skillset and produce week in and week out last season.

Patterson enjoyed a career year with the Panthers arch-rival Atlanta Falcons, rushing for 618 yards and six touchdowns while also totaling 548 receiving yards scores through the air. This production alone shows how versatile of a weapon he was in 2021.

Patterson is projected to make just over $9 million APY in free agency this offseason, according to Spotrac. While he might be one of the more expensive running backs on the open market, his skill and kick return ability would make him a valuable asset for Carolina’s offense and a great complement to McCaffrey.
