Carolina Panthers should consider Chase Edmonds

For the second time on this list, an Arizona Cardinal makes the list. This time, it’s the elusive back, Chase Edmonds.

One thing the Carolina Panthers could do this offseason is add a running back with a similar skill set to Christian McCaffrey if they intend on running the offense through his position once more in 2022. While this would be less than ideal for the third straight year, having someone like Edmonds that has shown to be impactful as a runner and receiver would help ease the workload for the Stanford product next time around.

Edmonds was another key weapon for the Cardinals in their Air-Raid offense. As a runner, he displayed patience, vision, great short-area quickness, and balance. In the passing game, he was a reliable check-down option that could create yards after the catch.

The fourth-year veteran finished his 2021 season with a career-high in touches and scrimmage yards despite playing just 12 games during the season. According to Spotrac, Edmonds’ current projected average salary is expected to be over $5 million. His projected APY would make him a viable target for Carolina in free agency.

The Cardinals will not want to lose both their primary running backs in free agency. But if it is a choice between James Conner and Edmonds, the organization might go with the former Pittsburgh Steeler.
