7 prospects on offense Panthers should watch at 2022 Scouting Combine

Carolina Panthers should watch CJ Verdell
Finding some assistance for Christian McCaffrey should be considered by the Carolina Panthers at some stage during the offseason period. The running back’s longevity is in more doubt than ever after turning out just seven times in 2021 and the less responsibility on his shoulders, the better moving forward.
There are a number of intriguing free agents set to hit the market that could assist, but these will likely be more expensive than picking up a rookie later on in the draft. Considering money is tight, this might be a better option for the Panthers.
One player that does have some question marks coming into the NFL Scouting Combine is CJ Verdell. The Oregon product is an absolute stud when healthy, but some serious injury issues over the last two seasons are a red flag the prospect needs to overcome during the evaluation process.
Verdell possesses good speed and is physical enough to absorb contact in between the tackles. He is also an asset in the passing game when called upon to further enhance the player’s status.
Indecisiveness is sometimes a complication for Verdell. There is also the small matter of indifferent pass protection to consider when judging the back.
Medical assessments will be crucial to Verdell’s status. But the Panthers should mark him down as a Day 3 project with a high upside before they head to Indianapolis.
