Carolina Panthers should watch Tyler Linderbaum

There is plenty of hype surrounding Tyler Linderbaum ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine. The center is widely regarded as the best prospect at the position to enter the league in quite some time and key front office personnel seeing him in the flesh could make a significant difference en route to potentially becoming a top-10 pick.

This is a position where the Carolina Panthers have struggled since the great Ryan Kalil retired following an exceptional career with the team. Matt Paradis is out of contract and even though Pat Elflein improved slightly when switched, banking on him long-term would be a real risk if his previous form is any indication.

Anyone who selects Linderbaum is getting an instant difference-maker with All-Pro potential. He is a tone-setter at the line of scrimmage who communicates well and is a dominant force either in run support or pass protection.

Injury is the only thing preventing Linderbaum from having an outstanding NFL career. If he ends up on the Panthers, it’s one less position they have to worry about for the next decade and an instant upgrade on anything currently available.

Carolina didn’t appear keen to draft interior linemen so high during last year’s draft. But once Linderbaum demonstrates his superb athletic abilities at the combine, it should make them sit up and take notice.
