player. 826. . . . ZION JOHNSON. 21

Zion Johnson – OG (Boston College)

Finding help on the offensive line interior is something the Carolina Panthers have to do before they take the field in a competitive environment again. One could make a case for four out of the five spots being open and this could be the team’s biggest priority during the draft depending on what happens in free agency.

Zion Johnson is a prospect that is gaining steam thanks to some outstanding attributes that can make a successful transition to the pros. The Boston College product possesses a unique blend of size, power, and athleticism, all of which were on full display throughout his drills at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Taking Johnson at No. 6 would be a major reach by the Panthers. But he could come into the equation if the organization trades down for more selections.

Trevor Penning – OT (Northern Iowa)

Finding a left tackle that can finally fill the void left by Jordan Gross is an absolute necessity for the Panthers in 2022. One player that has made a real case for top-15 consideration during the evaluation process is Trevor Penning, who could be the answer to Carolina’s prayers on the blindside.

Penning’s dominance at Northern Iowa was there for all to see. He also possesses a mean streak that caught the eye during the 2022 Senior Bowl – something that did not go unnoticed by scouts across the league.

The lineman does play a little high and is a penalty waiting to happen sometimes. But the Panthers will have Penning on their shortlist.

19. player. 814. . . . TRAVON WALKER

Travon Walker – DE/OLB (Georgia)

When one examines the top pass-rushers coming from the college ranks in 2022, then Travon Walker is someone that boasts the size, length, and explosiveness that could be a huge hit at the next level. The edge rusher played a significant role in Georgia’s sensational national championship success and has a strength at the point attack that’s simply astonishing.

Walker needs to add some additional pass-rushing moves to his repertoire if he wants to make an immediate impression. If he can do this, then the sky is the limit.
