player. 820. . . . Kayvon Thibodeaux. 6

Kayvon Thibodeaux – DE/OLB (Oregon)

One of the best pass-rushing prospects entering the league this year, Kayvon Thibodeaux is a relentless force flying off the edge that could be a top-three pick. The former Oregon standout has a wealth of physical attributes that could translate seamlessly to the pro ranks, with his high character and strong work ethic two valuable traits the prospect also has working in his favor.

Thibodeaux can operate as a stand-up outside linebacker or with his hand in the dirt at the defensive end spot with minimal fuss. The Carolina Panthers are expected to let Haason Reddick test the free-agent market, so finding a dominant young rusher to put alongside Brian Burns wouldn’t hurt their chances in the slightest.

Whether they can justify taking Thibodeaux so high with their other pressing needs is the big question. But we should know more about what’s required after free agency.

5. player. 878. . . . TYLER LINDERBAUM

Tyler Linderbaum – C (Iowa)

Although he is a little undersized, Tyler Linderbaum is the best center prospect to come from the college ranks in quite some time. The Iowa product has every chance of becoming a 10-year starter with All-Pro credentials barring injury and this is a position where the Panthers do have some doubts.

Matt Paradis is out of contract and Pat Elflein remains inconsistent. Linderbaum would be an instant upgrade on anything Carolina has right now and even though it might be a slight reach at No. 6, the benefits of solidifying one position of their protection long-term make this a strong possibility.

Linderbaum ticks every single box, it’s that simple. A player that any team would be lucky to have.

Ikem Ekwonu – OT (NC State)

There is a substantial amount of momentum building surrounding Ikem Ekwonu, who has a good chance at being the No. 1 overall selection after a superb evaluation process so far. The North Carolina State sensation has the quickness, physicality, and athleticism normally associated with top tackle prospects at the next level, with his prowess manning the interior another string to his bow.

Ekwonu plays the game with infectious enthusiasm and control in equal measure. His explosiveness and flawless technique come across plenty when examining the film, which was matched by an outstanding performance at the NFL Scouting Combine to send his draft stock through the roof.

The Panthers would be wise to select Ekwonu if he makes it that far. But based on ever-increasing projections, this appears highly unlikely.
