Carolina Panthers could target Brandon Scherff
This is exactly the kind of player the Carolina Panthers need on their offensive line. Brandon Scherff would be an excellent addition alongside Taylor Moton on the right side of the line. He has been one of the better interior offensive linemen in the league since he was drafted No. 5 overall by the Washington Commanders in 2015 and might be on the move after the player turned out on the franchise tag in 2021.
Scherff hasn’t been the most durable as of late. He suffered a sprained MCL that sidelined him for a few games in 2021 and he’s missed at least two contests in his last five seasons, so there is some concern for any team that wishes to pay for his services.
Even with these potential complications, Carolina should immediately be on the phone with Scherff as they have concerns with four of the five offensive line positions. Only Moton is guaranteed a starting berth, although the Panthers seem to be coming around to Brady Christensen as their franchise left tackle based on reports emanating from the NFL Scouting Combine.
Scherff and Moton on the right side would be one of the best offensive line duos in the NFL. Pro Football Focus projects the former Iowa stud to get around three years, $50 million with an annual salary of $16.67 million – something the Panthers might be able to afford.
