Carolina Panthers could target Marcus Williams

This is where we start to have a little bit of fun. And the Carolina Panthers now have some additional freedom thanks to their recent contract restructures.

Yes, the offensive line is without a doubt the priority and if it were up to me I would spend every last dime the Panthers had on that unit this offseason.

However, this article is about premier targets. Guys who can come in and immediately make a massive impact while also filling a major hole on the roster.

I’m going to give Jeremy Chinn a running mate for next season with Marcus Williams. The safety has great range and exceptional ball skills, which are the ideal characteristics to play alongside the former Southern Illinois standout who should be playing closer to the box in my opinion.

The Panthers could sure up their secondary for the immediate future with a signing like this. Williams is only 25 years old and has grown in stature in New Orleans, forming an important part of their prolific secondary that also includes Marshon Lattimore.

Adding a talent like this to a Carolina secondary that already has Chinn and Jaycee Horn could pay dividends for the Panthers in the long run. Pro Football Focus projects Williams to receive around four years and $64.5 million, which equates to $16.125 million a year and $35 million total guaranteed.
