Christian McCaffrey is one of the NFL’s most dynamic players

Even if he’s overpaid, there is no denying how talented of a player Christian McCaffrey is when healthy. He is easily one of, if not the, most dynamic player in the NFL.

If he were strictly a running back, McCaffrey would be a top-five player at the position. If he were strictly a wide receiver, he could very well be a top-five possession option from the slot that could influence proceedings all over the field.

I feel comfortable saying that.

His elite route running out of the backfield has made him a quarterback’s best friend with the Carolina Panthers. If the offense isn’t running him you can bet they’ll be looking to throw it to him.

Any way that they can get the ball in his hands, they will do it. It’s not clear how they will function without him.

Last season the Panthers went 1-9 without McCaffrey on the field. You could list several other reasons for why that happened, but Carolina missing the All-Pro was definitely one of them.

It’s hard to replace a player who can go for 100 rushing yards and 100 receiving yards in one game. Should Carolina move on from McCaffrey, they better have a plan for expanding the offense past one guy.
