6 reasons for and against the Panthers trading for Jordan Love

Carolina Panthers don’t know how good Jordan Love is
The biggest question of all is how good Jordan Love really is? The Green Bay Packers have seen him play the past two years in practice, but that’s a bit different than an actual game.
Love has just one start under his belt and it wasn’t great. Against the Kansas City Chiefs, the quarterback completed 19-of-34 passes for 190 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Packers lost 13-7 and could barely get the offense moving.
The signal-caller also saw a lot of snaps in Week 17, completing 10-of-17 passes for 134 yards, a touchdown, and two picks.
Those numbers aren’t great, making things tough to evaluate for the Carolina Panthers. We’ve seen plenty of quarterbacks struggle in their first few games, so it should be taken with a grain of salt, but it hasn’t looked promising for Love.
If the Panthers were to give up a few assets for Love just for him to struggle and not live up to the potential, it would go down as an all-time awful trade. Still probably not as bad as Sam Darnold – but it could end the tenure of Matt Rhule along the way.
