Carolina Panthers could target Rob Gronkowski

Fans will not care if he will be 33 years old before the start of the 2022 season or has an extensive injury list. Gronkowski is a big personality who is fun and brings new life to the tight end room.

Gronkowski, a four-time Super Bowl champion, has played with one quarterback for his entire career – great Tom Brady. And the veteran has previously said he does not want to play for anyone else.

The perennial Pro Bowler is now contemplating retirement if Brady is not throwing to him. But there is a possibility that could change.

After the Super Bowl, Gronkowski mentioned he would like to play for Joe Burrow with the Cincinnati Bengals. Brady going back on his retirement decision is also a slim factor to consider in the Arizona product’s future.

Is it a long shot for the Carolina Panthers?

Sure.

But it would be worth pursuing because Gronkowski had a good 2021 season, boasts playoff and Super Bowl experience, and would boost ticket sales for team owner David Tepper.

While not a long-term solution, Gronkowski could mentor Ian Thomas and become a solid transitional piece while the Panthers find the fourth-round pick’s replacement in a year or two.
