Jeremy Chinn – Carolina Panthers S

There still appears some doubt as to where Jeremy Chinn is best-suited long-term. His playmaking ability is absolutely undeniable, with the do-it-all defender transitioning well to the safety spot in 2021 to go over 100 tackles once again and continuing to emerge as an indispensable member of the roster along the way.

Chinn was the subject of trade talk as part of the Deshaun Watson deal, which didn’t go Carolina’s way. However, with Frankie Luvu and Marquis Haynes coming back as well as Damien Wilson and Cory Littleton signing in free agency, it appears as if the former second-round pick out of Southern Illinois will once again be filling in on the backend unless there is a drastic change of heart next season.

Finding Chinn a solid partner was a major need for the Panthers this offseason. This is something they wrapped up quickly with the addition of Xavier Woods, who bounced back in 2021 with the Minnesota Vikings after most were ready to write him off after his time on the Dallas Cowboys ended on a sour note.

Woods has the skill set that should complement Chinn extremely well. This has the potential to be a highly productive partnership and one that can further bolster a secondary that also brought back Donte Jackson on a three-year deal.

Chinn has endured a carousel of players alongside him throughout his career so far. In Woods, that might be about to change providing his transition to Carolina’s system goes as expected.
