Carolina Panthers select RB Rachaad White

As we know too well, Christian McCaffrey needs to get more touches taken off his plate. The past two seasons have been filled with injuries that have limited him to just 10 total games in the possible 33 games he could’ve played.

In free agency, the Carolina Panthers signed D’Onta Foreman to help take some of the heavy workloads off of McCaffrey’s hands in early-down situations. However, the recent acquisition and second-year running back Chuba Hubbard should not keep those in power from drafting another running back.

Rachaad White is a prospect that would help McCaffrey in terms of touches in the passing game. He’s a versatile running back who thrives catching out of the backfield, showing off good receiving skills and an eye-catching second gear when in the open field.

White is the type of running back that can provide value to the Panthers’ offense and allow them to be creative with McCaffrey as a receiver. By doing this, Ben McAdoo’s system might be able to install some chaos for opposing linebackers trying to get their defense set correctly.

While Panthers fans may disagree with this selection, it’s important to understand that McCaffrey’s value has begun to decrease due to the position he plays and the injuries the All-Pro has sustained over the last two years. The organization needs to keep their franchise running back healthy by helping him in two key areas – short-yardage situations and passing downs.
