Carolina Panthers select OT Braxton Jones

As the organization continues to build its roster, depth at every position is critical for sustained success in the NFL. The Carolina Panthers offensive line, one of the worst a season ago, is looking to add exactly this after adding Austin Corbert and Bradley Bozeman is free agency.

One of the hardest things to come by in the NFL is good offensive line depth. While some teams may have Pro Bowlers from left to right, the area that will hurt them the most is backup pieces not being up to the required standard if a starter underperforms or gets hurt.

In this mock draft, the Panthers have already solidified their starting offensive line by taking Jamaree Sayler, signaling that Brady Christensen is expected to start at left tackle. However, the front office isn’t satisfied with their depth and choose to take a developmental offensive tackle in the fifth round.

Braxton Jones is not a complete product by any means. He has a lot of room for growth in terms of strength and adding more mass and muscle to his frame.

With that said, Jones has good size, length, football intelligence, and functional athleticism. Those are four traits that could intrigue the front office and new Panthers offensive line coach, James Campen.
