How would Kyle Hamilton fit on the Carolina Panthers?

  • Week 1 starting strong safety/linebacker

The Carolina Panthers have defensive personnel with a lot of flexibility and athleticism. Kyle Hamilton would start right away at either the strong safety or the linebacker position, depending on where Phil Snow sees the best fit for both Jeremy Chinn and the incoming rookie.

At either position, Hamilton would play very well in an attacking defense like Carolina’s.

Hamilton is a better fit at strong safety compared to a linebacker. But the player’s athleticism and instincts would still fit very well in the box.

However, there is no doubt the range that he would bring in the middle of secondary would be immeasurably valuable. Something that would compliment what Chinn brings to the table extremely well.

Hamilton’s stock has fallen to the bottom of the top 10 based on positional value. Some believe he will fall even further than this. Carolina has the choice of trading down a few picks if they believe him to be the best available player – the other option is to reach if the Notre Dame defender is atop their draft board when they come on the clock.

If the Panthers draft the former defensive captain, Hamilton will come in and make an immediate impact on the field. Using his range, play recognition, ball skills, and run-stopping ability, he is the most complete safety to come out since the 2018 NFL Draft when Minkah Fitzpatrick and Derwin James entered the league.

There can never be too many instinctual playmakers on both sides of the ball. The Panthers would get a good one on defense, and a potential future All-Pro with Hamilton.
