Carolina Panthers could sign Eric Ebron

Moving forward with Ian Thomas and Tommy Tremble as the starting tight end tandem is a risk by the Carolina Panthers New offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo clearly feels he can bring the best out of the duo – who were non-existent in Joe Brady’s scheme last season – but whether this is something that comes to fruition when push comes to shove is another matter.

The tight end market was judged well by Samir Suleiman, with many of the top options in free agency going for extortionate sums. However, now that the initial melee has died down, there might be some value to be had further down the pecking order.

One player still looking for a new home is Eric Ebron. The athletic pass-catching presence spent last season on the Pittsburgh Steelers, which was a frustrating one due to injury and the growing emergence of rookie Pat Freiermuth meant cutting ties with the veteran was an easy call to make.

Ebron has a ton of talent. The former No. 10 overall selection has attained 335 receptions for 3,837 receiving yards and 33 touchdowns for three teams throughout his career and he is no stranger to the area having played his college football at North Carolina.

Whether this is something the Panthers are considering is debatable. But this extra competition could provide both Thomas and Tremble with an extra sense of urgency to take their respective games to new heights.
