Ranking the 9 potential Carolina Panthers starting QB options in 2022

Carolina Panthers could draft Kenny Pickett
The Carolina Panthers clearly have their eye on Kenny Pickett, who is the favorite among mock draft analysts to end up with the organization at No. 6 overall. This is a major reach for the former Pittsburgh standout, so those in power would need to be absolutely sure he’s the man to lead them back to prominence.
Pickett surged from nowhere in 2021 to become one of college football’s most dynamic players at the position. He has a strong mentality, can make all the necessary throws, and also has no trouble at all moving the chains on the ground when the situation calls for it.
The prospect and Matt Rhule have a previous connection from their college days. Carolina’s head coach and general manager Scott Fitterer have also both been very glowing about the player during the evaluation process.
Even though Pickett appears to be the most pro-ready quarterback in this class, throwing him to the wolves would be a call that ultimately determines whether Rhule will be in a job beyond next season.
So the big question is, will Rhule gamble his job on Pickett?
Much like the situation with Matt Corral, the Panthers’ need for immediate assistance puts this move into doubt – although the primary decision-makers do appear willing to select a new man under center if the elite left tackles are off the board.
