4 veterans the Carolina Panthers were right to move on from in 2022

Ameer Abdullah – Former Carolina Panthers RB
It was an encouraging series of cameos for Ameer Abdullah in 2021. The Carolina Panthers picked up the dual-threat running back following his release by the Minnesota Vikings and given Christian McCaffrey’s ongoing health problems, he was tasked to do much more than anybody – himself included – probably thought over the second half of the campaign.
Abdullah deserves a significant amount of credit for adjusting quickly and slotting in well. He became a nice outlet for whoever was under center in the passing game and his tandem with Chuba Hubbard was something the Panthers clearly needed without their best offensive weapon.
The introduction of offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo should see Carolina finally move forward with their downhill running attack. Something that head coach Matt Rhule promised last season without it ever really coming to fruition.
This isn’t exactly the style Abdullah is best suited to, in all honesty. So it was no surprise to see the player take his chances elsewhere by signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, who are expected to make some serious noise after acquiring Chandler Jones and stud wide receiver Davante Adams this offseason.
Carolina made a tremendous addition to their options in the form of D’Onta Foreman. However, their chance will rest on whether McCaffrey can rid himself of the injury complications that have restricted the All-Pro to just 10 games over the last two years.
