Carolina Panthers have met with Malik Willis

Sam Darnold might be on the roster in 2022, but that’s not going to come with a full guarantee of securing the starting position after a less than stellar first season under center following his trade from the New York Jets. The same problems that have enveloped the former first-round pick throughout his career came to the fore in a big way once again, which means trying to salvage this reclamation project might be a task too tall for almost anybody at this juncture.

Going down the draft route is a risky business in this class. But if Malik Willis was available at No. 6 overall, the Carolina Panthers could end up pulling the trigger on his elite upside.

No prospect in the draft has propelled themselves more than Willis during the assessment process, His outstanding Senior Bowl and exceptional NFL Scouting Combine were matched by wowing those in attendance at Liberty’s pro day, which stems from the player’s infectious enthusiasm and incredibly effortless arm strength.

Ignoring the tape where Willis is concerned would be a mistake. There are some processing issues, his timing is sometimes off, and the signal-caller is still relatively raw in terms of going through progressions.

The Panthers spent time with Willis at the combine and Adam Schefter of ESPN stated that he is set to visit Carolina next week. However, there is a good chance he won’t be around at No. 6 overall given how much hype now surrounds him.
