There is always a quarterback that comes from nowhere during their final college season and during the evaluation process. That isn’t guaranteed to come with NFL success, obviously, but it’s hard to fathom just how important momentum is at the right time when it comes to the quarterback position.

Bailey Zappe is certainly riding on the crest of a wave following a sensational season at Western Kentucky, which saw the signal-caller break FBS records and continues his meteoric rise to potential NFL stardom in the not-too-distant future.

The Carolina Panthers are reportedly bringing in the prospect for a visit to find out a little more about one of the more intriguing players under center in this class, who might be available a little later on in the process depending on how things play out.

Zappe has overcome adversity almost his entire career to put up substantial numbers everywhere he’s been. There is real confidence in his demeanor on the field and this is matched by getting things done when it matters more often than not.

This is accomplished by a nice velocity on his throws. His release is high-class and Zappe also plays fast to further complicate matters for opposing defenses.

There are some questions regarding whether Zappe is undersized. He will also need time to adjust given the steep increase in standards and driving the football with more purpose is something else that will aid his cause.

Much will depend on what the Panthers do at No. 6 overall. If those in power go with an offensive tackle, then the prospect of acquiring Zappe becomes a realistic one.
