Matt Corral is another quarterback that the Carolina Panthers have been interested in this offseason. The Ole Miss product was unable to participate during most of the evaluation process after suffering an ankle injury in his final Rebels appearance and although there was some rust when finally able to take the field for his pro day, the film is all that matters now the prospect had checked all the boxes medically.
Corral is a proven performer against the elite of college football. His release is nothing short of exceptional and the signal-caller also has outstanding mobility to make things happen when a play isn’t quite developing as expected.
The quarterback has an NFL-ready arm and sees the field well. Traits that always translate well and should help Corral acclimatize wherever he ends up.
If the player wants to truly succeed in the NFL, Corral has to improve awareness in the pocket when pressure arrives and footwork, to a lesser extent, also needs a little refinement.
Others might be generating more buzz. But Corral has the best production of anyone in this class outside of Sam Howell’s 2020 campaign and something that won’t go unnoticed by quarterback-needy teams when push comes to shove.
Whether that’s Carolina is another matter entirely.
