Carolina Panthers contemplating a mid-round RB

Despite having Christian McCaffrey, Chuba Hubbard, and the recently acquired D’Onta Foreman, it hasn’t stopped the Carolina Panthers from taking a closer look at running back prospects entering the league this year. While there isn’t a blue-chip individual at the position coming out of the college ranks in 2022, there could be some huge value in the mid-to-late rounds within a relatively deep group.

It might be smoke and mirrors, which is often the case at this time of year regarding the draft. But the Panthers have reportedly met with two prospects so far that brought a significant amount of intrigure within the team’s fanbase.

According to Josh Norris of Underdog Fantasy, the Panthers brought in Brian Robinson Jr. for a visit on Monday. The former Alabama stud enjoyed a fantastic 2021 season as the lead back and although his pass-catching prowess isn’t great, he is a powerful player that looks like superb fit for Ben McAdoo’s downhill scheme.

Not only this, but Carolina also took the time to discover a little more about Jerome Ford as one of their 30 visits, per Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network. His production during Cincinatti’s memorable run to the college football playoffs was outstanding and the prospect has alleviated concerns about his ability to impact matters on passing downs during workouts.

This might be nothing more than the Panthers doing their due dilligence. However, it’s come out of nowhere and is something to keep an eye on.
