Carolina Panthers could select Haskell Garrett (Ohio State)

Measurements:

  • Height: 6-foot-2 | Weight: 300 pounds

2021 Stats:

  • 22 tackles
  • 5.5 sacks
  • 7 tackles for loss
  • 74.2 PFF Grade

Haskell Garrett played through injuries in his last season at Ohio State. That did not stop him from providing a solid pass rush and penetration on the Buckeyes.

His hand fighting technique is very polished. Haskell will also be a tricky matchup one-on-one during passing downs.

Garrett’s ceiling is somewhat limited as an NFL tackle due to his short arms. But this won’t stop him from becoming a solid professional player.

He shows slipperiness through gaps because of his initial get-off and football IQ. That allows him to get into the backfield consistently and something that stood out at the 2022 Senior Bowl.

The prospect cannot play nose tackle at the NFL level because he does not have the ideal strength. He will get pushed out of the way when he is double-teamed, but if Garrett is positioned over the guard or the B-gap, he will be an effective player.

Derrick Brown and Bravvion Roy look to be the two nose tackles in the rotation. The weak-side and strong-side defensive tackle slots need filling since only Matt Ioannidis and Daviyon Nixon are quality rotational guys at those positions.

Simply put, Garrett would fill this need right away.

Providing that Brown and Roy do their jobs, Garrett will succeed if the Carolina Panthers decided to take a chance on him in the mid-rounds, which is entirely possible given his upside.
