Greg Dulcich is the prototypical pass-catching tight end. Look up the definition in the dictionary and you will see his picture.

There are few in the college ranks, and possibly only one, that was a better player in that skill set in 2021. Dulcich won’t blow by you with staggering speed but instead uses his route running and quick moves to create separation, running through defenders when need be.

The route running is what really jumps off the screen when watching the former UCLA tight end. His ability to run basically any route and consistently get open is truly spectacular and the prospect can shake just about anyone that isn’t a cornerback and feasts on safeties especially.

A quick burst at the line and at the end of routes consistently caused problems for defenders and that is a skill that easily translates to the next level. This, coupled with good speed, is a recipe for big plays up the middle, something the Carolina Panthers haven’t had in years.

Dulcich also has the ability to get his head around and track the ball once it is in the air, giving his quarterback the confidence to throw up the ball with anticipation and trust that the tight end will find it.

The classic run-and-tumble tight end formula, but Dulcich does it very well. Absorbing the big hits, shedding off tacklers, or dragging them along for the ride.

With that said, Dulcich is a tight end through and through and doesn’t have the same kind of versatility as most players in today’s game. He is more of a one-trick pony so to speak.

Blocking is also a liability, although the willingness to at least attempt the block is there and can hold up for short periods of time. Dulcich can also get caught in his routes a bit and not be willing to really break from them and improvise.

There is not enough good that one can say about Dulcich. If he is available in the third round would be an absolute steal that would take the passing game to new heights in Carolina providing they can get into Day 2 via trade.
