Carolina Panthers select JoJo Domann

  • Linebacker | Nebraska

Replicating the production Luke Kuechly gave the Carolina Panthers following an exceptional eight-year career has been an impossible task. Tahir Whitehead and Jermaine Carter failed to fill the void and the organization’s decision to trade away Denzel Perryman was a mistake after he earned Pro Bowl honors with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Hopefully, Damien Wilson and Cory Littleton can provide more stability. But if JoJo Domann makes it this far, securing his services could benefit the team with the long-term in mind.

Domann is a versatile difference-maker that was used all over the defense during his four seasons at Nebraska. He is athletic enough to play on the backend, agile enough to go sideline to sideline at the second level, and is even explosive enough to rush the passer from the defensive front.

Versatility like this is something the Panthers value highly in their college recruits. Domann’s experience in different areas has also seen him emerge as a sensational communicator – which is another trait that won’t go unnoticed by NFL scouts.

There is the potential for Domann to become a hybrid defender in a similar ilk to Jeremy Chinn, who has taken the league by storm since Carolina selected him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The former Cornhusker might go much higher than this, but he’s a player that can make a big-time impact in Phil Snow’s system.
