Carolina Panthers will select TE and LB in Round No. 5

This is part of the draft that can make or break a franchise. The Carolina Panthers drafted two highly productive performers in the fifth round last year, with Daviyon Nixon and Keith Taylor Jr. both showing enormous potential during their respective rookie campaigns.

Providing the Panthers also fill other pressing needs beforehand, this is also a spot where they might be in a position to select the best player available. A luxury that few expected heading into a busy offseason period.

Carolina signed Damien Wilson and Cory Littleton to solve their ongoing riddle at middle linebacker after Jermaine Carter wasn’t brought back following an inconsistent 2021 season. Luke Kuechly’s shock retirement is still being felt and the sooner the Panthers find a successor, the better the team’s chances will be.

Even though the Panthers look pretty set regarding starting options at the second level, the depth doesn’t appear to be all that great. Finding a development project in the mid rounds should be considered.

The same applies to the tight end position. Carolina is giving Ian Thomas another go in Ben McAdoo’s scheme and he could be more involved, with hopes also high for Tommy Tremble with additional progress during the upcoming preparation period.

However, drafting a prospect with high athletic traits might be something Carolina does at some stage on Day 3.
