Carolina Panthers could draft Amare Barno
- Defensive End | Virginia Tech
Finding another pass-rusher is something the Carolina Panthers should think strongly about during the draft. Losing Haason Reddick in free agency was a sacrifice the team felt they had to make, which takes away a major threat opposite Brian Burns on the front seven that must be bolstered even if Yetur Gross-Matos reacts well to more responsibility.
As stated previously, the Panthers could use the No. 6 overall selection on the defensive end position. Although it would be a big-time shock and ignores other pressing needs that should arguably take priority.
Should the Panthers wait until later in the process, then Amare Barno is a name to watch. The Virginia Tech product gained 21.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks over his two seasons with the Hokies and even though he is a little rough around the edges, there is a lot for the coaching staff to work with from a physical standpoint.
Barno’s frame is NFL-ready and he uses his length to good effect on the field. His explosiveness is absolutely first-class and this is matched by a relentless motor that comes in real use on running downs.
The lineman could do with bulking up at the next level. His quick twitch to the point of attack is another area that needs work to make the most out of what appears to be an outstanding athletic skill set.
