Carolina Panthers could draft Samuel Womack
- Cornerback | Toledo
We get it, the Carolina Panthers look pretty set at the cornerback position.
But that has not stopped the organization from swooping for reinforcements if they feel it can benefit them in the short and long term.
According to WalterFootball.com, the Panthers brought in Samuel Womack for a private workout to get a closer look at the prospect. Something that could see Carolina take a late-round flyer on the Toledo product providing they have the luxury to do so.
This can only be considered if other needs are filled first. Womack might not be able to provide an instant impact on the depth chart, but the Panthers wouldn’t need him to be anything more than a development project with so much talent within their cornerback room.
Womack is solid in man coverage and plays with nice reactionary skills. He is also very aggressive and is a dangerous proposition whenever he gets his hands on the football.
One potential complication when Womack gets to the pros is size. He is relatively small and could get bullied by physically imposing wide receivers at the next level, which won’t have gone unnoticed by scouts, either.
This would be a relatively low-risk selection. There is even a chance Carolina could snap up the player during undrafted free agency if Womack fails to hear his name called.
