Carolina Panthers could draft Evan Neal

  • Offensive Tackle | Alabama

If Evan Neal was still on the board at No. 6 overall, it’s an opportunity the Carolina Panthers would have a hard time steering away from. The mammoth offensive lineman has all the size, length, and physical attributes to make a successful career for himself in the pros and this could even be the team’s dream scenario when it’s all said and done.

Neal is a versatile prospect that played everywhere but the center position during his time with the Alabama Crimson Tide. However, his production on the blindside in 2021 left absolutely no doubt this should be his NFL position.

There is a lot to like about the way Neal goes about his business. His power at the point of attack is first class, the explosiveness is surprising for a man his size, and there are no real concerns about the player’s footwork, which should improve over time.

If there was one slight to Neal’s game, it’s where his technique is concerned on occasions. But the Panthers recently hired James Campen as their new offensive line coach, who has an exceptional track record of developing college players into Pro Bowl-caliber professionals.

Neal will instantly change the complexion of Carolina’s fortunes at left tackle. But this would take an early run on edge rushers and perhaps even another team trading up into the top-five to become a reality.
