How can the Carolina Panthers improve their pass rush?

Losing Haason Reddick to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency and not securing a replacement in free agency means the Carolina Panthers need to get themselves a stud pass-rusher from the college ranks at some stage.

This is a deep class for defensive ends and outside linebackers, so it would be a major surprise if the primary decision-makers didn’t bring one or two to the organization despite their confidence in Yetur Gross-Matos.

Reddick was allowed to test the market after gaining 11 sacks, which was a gamble that the Panthers might regret when it’s all said and done.

What’s important now is Carolina making sure the likes of Gross-Matos and Marquis Haynes are ready for additional responsibilities. They must also bring in another talented prospect via the 2022 draft to potentially play an immediate part.

Only time will tell as to whether this is done at No. 6 overall, by trading up, down, or selecting one early on Day 3. The Panthers have no doubt made a shortlist of candidates in this particular area of the field and would be wise to strike quickly if the right prospect comes along.

Reddick’s presence will be missed. Not only in terms of production but also by Brian Burns, who’ll now become the primary focus of opposing protection schemes.
