Carolina Panthers could select Evan Neal (Alabama)

Measurements:

  • Height: 6-foot-7 | Weight: 337 pounds

2021 Stats:

  • 626 pass protection snaps
  • 85.8 PFF Grade
  • Started 15 games at left tackle
  • Allowed 15 pressures

If Evan Neal were to fall to the Carolina Panthers at pick No. 6, it would be a steal.

The chances that Neal slides this far are very slim, but it wouldn’t be right to not put him on this list because he is arguably the best offensive tackle in this draft class. If anyone else were to take that honor, it would be Ikem Ekwonu.

Neal mainly played left tackle at Alabama but has the ability to move all over the offensive line and has A+ fundamentals.

Not only did Neal get experience playing against the best college players in the country while at the Crimson Tide, but he proved to be a sensational pass-protector. In contrast to Ekwonu, there are still a few flaws in his run-blocking game.

The prospect will undoubtedly be a Day 1 starter wherever he ends up. That is thanks to his fluidity and technique.

There is still some discipline that needs to be adjusted in his game. However, Neal’s power and size make him a can’t-miss prospect that has the ability to be an elite player in the NFL.

It’s uncertain just how high Carolina is on Neal. If they really wanted to go all-in, they could do their best to try and trade up for him.

The problem is that they don’t have many assets to give up right now. So this one might be a pipe dream.
