Scott Fitterer – Carolina Panthers GM

There is no doubt Scott Fitterer made a positive impression during his first draft with the Carlina Panthers. Something the organization hope continues this time around.

The general manager’s ability to manipulate the draft board in his favor was tremendous. Fitterer also managed to find some real value in the mid-to-late rounds, which the team needs to do again without any Day 2 capital right now.

Much has been made about how Matt Rhule gets the final say on personnel decisions. But there has been a complete shift in recruitment ethos this offseason, which could mean that’s no longer the case.

In truth, this is what’s probably best for the Panthers. The more influential Fitterer becomes in terms of signings, the better Carolina’s chances will be in the short and long term.

Fitterer has multiple options available at No. 6 overall and has done a good job of keeping all opportunities open. They still have a need at left tackle and quarterback, but the front office figure might also look to generate more in the way of ammunition by trading down.

It will be fascinating to see what transpires. Fitterer is under enormous pressure to make the correct call and his actions during the 2021 draft indicate there should be a level of confidence despite Rhule’s presence.
