Carolina Panthers could select Quay Walker (Georgia)

Measurements:

  • Height: 6-foot-4
  • Weight: 241 pounds

2021 Stats:

  • 65 tackles
  • 5.5 tackles for loss
  • 1.5 sacks
  • 72.1 PFF grade

Quay Walker was one of the many good players on what was statistically the second-best defense in the FBS. Georgia leaned on him and Nakobe Dean to lead the defense and it’s safe to say that decision paid off as they won the national championship.

Walker did not have too much production. But on tape, he flashed a lot of his talent and football instincts. His football IQ is high, which alongside outstanding agility, allows him to close down space quickly.

The former Bulldog uses his vision to see and close down running lanes. Walker is one of the more polished prospects in the draft and he will be an effective player at the professional level.

Walker is projected to go at the beginning of Day 2. The Carolina Panthers will probably not have any capital in this area of the draft unless they trade back.

If they do acquire additional capital, it will lead to a selection of a more pressing need such as a quarterback or offensive lineman.

Despite this, Walker would be a solid pickup for a Panthers team that could use another instinctual player next to Shaq Thompson. Carolina has not had two quick and reactionary linebackers on the same team since Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis and it’s been sorely missed.
