Carolina Panthers get no trade-down interest

With no second or third-round selections following trades for Sam Darnold and C.J. Henderson, it would be a surprise if the Carolina Panthers did not explore the possibility of trading down from No. 6 overall. Scott Fitterer‘s wheeling and dealing during his first draft as general manager in 2021 only strengthens this belief, although much will obviously depend on which players are available at No. 6 overall when the time comes.

Although this represents the best option to many, it might not be that clear-cut. Something that could leave Carolina facing the prospect of giving up future assets in pursuit of Day 2 capital this time around.

As stated previously, this is not the best group of quarterbacks that’s ever entered the league. Teams will be reluctant to trade up and land a promising signal-caller if it’s not a sure thing, which is bad news for the Panthers if they are intent on going down this route.

Fitterer will have already worked the phones to get the lay of the land. It also has to be the right offer for the Panthers with so much on the line in 2022.

It’s unlikely that Carolina is going to wait until No. 137 overall for their next pick in the draft. Getting no trade interest for the No. 6 selection would be a blow, but not a complete catastrophe by any stretch of the imagination.
