Panthers 7-round mock draft featuring Baker Mayfield blockbuster trade
Carolina Panthers select Quay Walker
- Linebacker | Georgia
Outside of quarterback, offensive lineman, and pass rusher, one of the biggest needs on the Carolina Panthers roster is linebacker.
Free-agent signing Cory Littleton looks to be a part of the rotation at linebacker this season, but nothing more at the moment. Damien Wilson, who was expected to fill the middle linebacker role, was arrested on assault charges this past week and his future is currently in doubt.
Whether it’s during or after the NFL Draft, the Scott Fitterer must address this position of need. In this mock draft, he is able to do just that by dipping his finger into the absurdly talented Georgia defense.
At 6-foot-3 and 241 pounds, Quay Walker was an underrated piece of the Bulldogs’ historic defense in 2021. He offers amazing range and athleticism for his size and has a superb length that expands his tackle radius, allowing him to make plays on the ball carrier.
Walker has room for growth as a processor. However, he has shown flashes of making great play both in pass coverage and in his run fits due to great instincts.
This shows that Walker has the ability to be a MIKE linebacker and the potential successor to Panthers’ great Luke Kuechly at his position.
